    Hunters’ long established and successful technology systems manufacturer requires an experienced buyer to deliver an excellent and timely purchasing function enabling the business to fulfil customer requirements.

     

    Working hours

     

    08:30-5:00 Monday – Thursday

    8:30-15:45 Friday

     

    Key Tasks

     

    • Work closely with the Sales team handling price & delivery enquiries in a timely manner
    • Work closely with the Engineering teams to ensure delivery schedules are met
    • Work with product specialists & sales to set and manage inventory levels to ensure that inventory profiles are maintained
    • Develop professional supply relationships internally and externally to continuously improve cost, quality and continuity of supply
    • Develop standard operational procedures to improve supply chain performance

     

    Key Competencies

     

    • Proven track record within a purchasing/material control role in a technical environment
    • Understanding of lean logistics philosophies and tools – Kanban etc
    • Clear communicator with excellent negotiation skills
    • Able to work unsupervised, act on own initiative and make decisions
    • Good numerical and analytical skills

    • Stock values and inventory turns
    • Obsolescence costs

     

    Qualifications / Experience

     

    Experience gained whilst working in a similar role

    Educated to A level standard

     

    Duties

     

    Place orders with suppliers through recommended replenishment, stock reports and purchases requisitions. Manage stock schedules using sea & air freight as appropriate

     

    Manage subcontract manufacturers including order placement and quality issues

     

    Progress sales enquiries for price and delivery in a timely manner

     

    Supervise and assist with maintenance of supplier database, price lists, SAQ’s

     

    Ensure stock levels, stock turns and obsolescence are maintained in line with company objectives and agreed targets. Control stock checking programme with Logistics Specialist

     

    Liaise with and support production planning department

     

    Provide supplier analysis, stock analysis, stock reporting as required

     

    Manage stock meetings with Product Specialists and Sales Managers

     

    Liaise with suppliers to maximise cost savings. Review freight forwarder and courier companies to ensure best service levels and cost are achieved

     

    Project work in accordance with appraisal recommendations.

     

    Ensure that ISO9001 procedures are adhered to at all times

     

    Fully support improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of your processes by adhering to and promoting the principles of Lean

     

    Build good working relationships with all colleagues/departments, including a duty to care and respect all co-workers.
