Hunters’ client runs a library provision across East Sussex. We are hiring a number of enthusiastic and reliable Temporary Workers to cover the academic period over several library sites across East Sussex. The Library Assistants willprovide an efficient and customer focused support function to library users and also deal with enquiries and support users to access the resources and services available.
Hunters is recruiting for sites in Brighton and Eastbourne. We requireLibrary Assistants to fill various shifts (either Full Time and Part Time). Please advise your preferences in terms of hours on application.

We are looking for the following skills and qualities in our Library Assistants:
Knowledge/qualifications: accurate numeracy and literacy skills.
Communication: is able to communicate information in an understandable way orally and in writing, as suitable to the situation.
Sensitivity: listens well and considers others’ needs and perspectives; relates well to users and shows commitment to ensuring equality of opportunity.
Teamwork: flexible, co-operative, helpful; respects ideas and expertise of others; appreciates own strengths and weaknesses.
Organisation: works systematically; uses time efficiently; meets priorities and deadlines with a minimum of supervision.
Manual handling: Able to handle moderate weights (book trolleys, books for shelving, etc.) as part of daily routine.
Response to change: prepares and plans self and others for change; adaptable; interested in learning and investigation.
Technical skill: basic IT skills.
Main areas of Responsibility:
To shelve and tidy the resources within the Library.
To provide basic advice and support to users of the Library.
To provide basic advice and support to users of open access computing facilities.
Assist in emergency or operational procedures as required that take precedence over main duties, for example, Fire Warden duties, to ensure the safety of service users.
To maintain the library environment.
