“Fail to prepare – Prepare to fail”
Hunters has reflected that securing a job offer these days has got a lot trickier. Perhaps this is the shadow of Brexit or a natural evolution leading to employers to reflect more carefully on the ideal hire.
This week we have heard directly from a number of employers lamenting how candidates have prepared (or haven’t) for interview. With this in mind we suggest that all candidates called for any interview with any client anywhere prepare answers to the following questions:
“What do you know about our company?” – you should know when the company was established, what it’s core values are, and it’s trading history, and this financial information is freely available on the Companies House website.
“Why do you want to work for us?” – demonstrate how your values and culture align with those of the company. Enthusiasm and passion are the key. Most clients realise that interviewees will be nervous. However, enthusiasm and preparation trump any shortfall with regard to nerves.
“Give an example of when you delivered exceptional customer service.” – virtually all job roles centre around delivering customer service at heart. Make sure you have a specific example from your own experience that you can refer to.
